At a press conference on the sidelines of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of cooperation between China and the United States. Responding to questions from CGTN's Tian Wei, Wang dismissed the notion that high barriers could stifle innovation. "High fences and small yards cannot suppress the spirit of innovation," he stated.
Wang highlighted that China-U.S. business relations thrive on two-way, reciprocal interactions, fostering mutual benefits and win-win outcomes. He warned against attempts to decouple or disrupt supply chains, asserting that such actions would only lead to self-isolation.
Addressing the complexities of maintaining good relations while imposing arbitrary pressures, Wang warned that China would implement countermeasures in response to any attempts to suppress its growth. "One should not fantasize that it can suppress China and maintain good relations at the same time," he concluded.
