Chinese FM Wang Yi Reiterates One-China Principle on Taiwan

During a press conference at the third session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi firmly stated that Taiwan was never and will never be a country.

Wang emphasized that the only reference to the Taiwan region in the United Nations is "Taiwan, Province of China." He asserted that history and current realities confirm that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.

The minister warned that supporting "Taiwan independence" constitutes interference in China's internal affairs and undermines the stability of the Taiwan Strait. He highlighted that the principle of sovereignty is the cornerstone of the UN Charter, arguing that no country or individual should apply double standards in this context.

Wang concluded by reaffirming the one-China principle, stressing that opposing any form of "Taiwan independence" is essential. He stated that the complete reunification of China is a shared aspiration among the Chinese people.
