Unitree’s G1 Robot Tours CGTN Office: A Glimpse into the Future of Robotics

In a fascinating display of technological prowess, the G1 humanoid robot from Unitree Robotics, based in Hangzhou, east China, made a special visit to CGTN's office. This visit follows the impressive performance of another Unitree model at this year's CMG Spring Festival Gala, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide.

Standing at approximately 1.3 meters and weighing 35 kilograms, the G1 model is a more compact and lightweight version compared to the H1 model that danced at the Spring Festival Gala, which stands about 1.8 meters tall and weighs nearly 50 kilograms. Equipped with 23 to 43 joint electrodes, the G1 model boasts greater flexibility, allowing it to perform a wide range of tasks—from learning intricate dance moves to executing simple welding operations with its mechanical arms.

Jin Da, the marketing manager of Unitree Robotics, shared insights into the future of robotics. "The development of large models like China's DeepSeek brings endless possibilities to the robotics industry. The advancement in computational power and applications across various sectors lays a solid foundation for future innovations," he explained.

Highlighting the current trends, Jin Da pointed out that one of the hot topics at this year's Two Sessions is the concept of new quality productive forces. This emphasizes the integration of technological innovation with industrial upgrading, paving the way for advanced applications of robotics.

Looking ahead, Jin Da envisions a gradual transition of humanoid robots into large-scale environments such as factories, eventually making their way into households within the next decade or even sooner. "As humanoid robots garner more attention, we can expect increased talent and companies to join the field, fostering further innovation and expansion. It's a positive cycle that will drive the industry forward," he added.
