In the heart of Svay Ampear Village, Svay Ampear Commune, Cambodia, Srey Chantha has embarked on a transformative journey to lift herself and her community out of poverty. Joining the cattle-raising initiative supported by the East Asia Poverty Reduction Cooperation Pilot Project, Srey faced significant challenges when immature technology led to frequent cattle illnesses, threatening her livelihood.
Determined to find a sustainable solution, Srey attended specialized training to acquire breeding skills tailored to her unique circumstances. With limited land available, she maximized her resources by cultivating vegetables in her backyard, turning every inch of space into a productive asset.
Her perseverance paid off when, with the support of the project team, she ventured into high-temperature mushroom cultivation. This innovative approach not only diversified her income but also yielded remarkable results, showcasing the potential of sustainable agricultural practices in combating poverty.
Srey Chantha's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of targeted support programs in empowering individuals to create lasting change in their lives and communities.
