In a recent government work report submitted to the national legislature, China reaffirmed its commitment to the \"One Country, Two Systems\" principle. Under this framework, Hong Kong and Macao will continue to enjoy a high degree of autonomy, allowing their residents to administer their regions independently.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered the report on behalf of the State Council during the opening meeting of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing. The report emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional order in both special administrative regions (SARs) and ensuring that Hong Kong and Macao are governed by patriots, in line with the Constitution and their respective basic laws.
China aims to support the economic growth of Hong Kong and Macao, improve the lives of their people, and enhance international exchanges and cooperation. By integrating these regions into national development strategies, China seeks to maintain long-term prosperity and stability in both SARs.
The report also highlighted China's dedication to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, firmly opposing any separatist activities aimed at \"Taiwan independence\" and external interference. Efforts will be made to promote peaceful cross-Straits relations, improve institutions and policies for economic and cultural exchanges, and advance integrated development across the Taiwan Strait to benefit the Chinese people on both sides.
