The Chinese mainland has issued a stern warning to Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, urging them to reconsider their strategies in the ongoing cross-strait dynamics.
According to reports, Taiwan's upcoming Han Kuang 41 military exercise is set to significantly extend its live-fire phase, with plans to mobilize up to 3,000 reserve troops. This move has been encouraged by the United States, raising concerns in the region.
Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, criticized the DPP authorities for what he described as an illusion of “soliciting U.S. support for independence” and “resisting unification by force.”
“We warn the DPP authorities that holding back the tide with a broom will only end up in self-destruction. We will come and get you, sooner or later,” said Wu.
Wu emphasized that the Taiwan question is an internal affair of the Chinese mainland and must not involve external interference. He accused the U.S. of attempting to contain China through Taiwan, labeling it as a risky and provocative strategy that is destined to backfire.
The spokesperson also highlighted the shared identity of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, calling for peaceful reunification with sincerity and effort. However, he clarified that China does not renounce the use of force against those advocating for Taiwan secession and external meddling.
“Anyone who dares to push for 'Taiwan secession' will certainly face swift and strong countermeasures from the Chinese People's Liberation Army,” Wu concluded.
