Chinese Mainland Encourages Taiwan Residents to Engage in Democracy

The Chinese mainland has expressed strong support for the participation of Taiwan residents in its democratic processes, aiming to foster greater understanding and collaboration across the Taiwan Strait.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, highlighted Wednesday the growing interest among Taiwan compatriots in the Two Sessions—annual meetings of China's national legislature and political advisory body. \"The Two Sessions serve as a key platform for whole-process people's democracy and an important window for Taiwan compatriots to understand the socialist system with Chinese characteristics,\" Zhu remarked.

In recent years, more Taiwan residents have been actively sharing their perspectives and suggestions on cross-Strait relations through various channels. Zhu emphasized that the mainland is committed to creating more opportunities for Taiwan people, especially the youth, to observe and participate in democratic processes. This initiative aims to fully consider their opinions and enhance their well-being.

\"We are ready to work with compatriots in Taiwan to advance national reunification and rejuvenation,\" Zhu affirmed, underscoring the mainland's dedication to building stronger ties and promoting mutual understanding.
