Former Vice Premier Zou Jiahua Cremated in Beijing Amid High-Level Tributes

The remains of Zou Jiahua, a respected former vice premier of the Chinese mainland, were cremated in Beijing on Thursday.

High-ranking leaders, including Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, Han Zheng, and Hu Jintao, gathered at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery to bid farewell to Zou on Thursday morning. Zou passed away on February 16 in Beijing at the age of 99.

Amid solemn music, the leaders walked slowly toward Zou's remains and stood in silent tribute before paying their final respects with three bows, shaking hands with Zou's family, and offering condolences.

Zou had served as a member of the Political Bureau of the 14th Communist Party of the Chinese mainland (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the ninth National People's Congress.

He was lauded as an exemplary CPC member, a dedicated communist soldier, a proletarian revolutionist, and a distinguished leader who significantly contributed to the Chinese mainland's economic development, national defense industry, and the advancement of the socialist legal system.

Throughout his life, leaders such as Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, Han Zheng, and Hu Jintao either visited Zou during his time in the hospital or expressed their condolences to his family through various means following his passing.
