‘Ne Zha 2’ Premieres in Hong Kong & Macao Amid Global Buzz

The Chinese animated blockbuster 'Ne Zha 2' will premiere in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on February 18 and the Macao Special Administrative Region on February 19, according to the National Film Administration. The film, a sequel to 2019’s record-breaking 'Ne Zha,' will open for general audiences in both regions on February 22.

The original 'Ne Zha' became China’s highest-grossing animated film, earning over 12.1 billion yuan ($1.67 billion) globally and ranking among the top nine animated films worldwide. Its cultural resonance, blending ancient mythology with modern animation, set a new benchmark for Chinese cinema.

Industry analysts predict 'Ne Zha 2' will repeat its predecessor’s success, driven by its polished visuals and action-packed narrative. The film’s release underscores growing global interest in Chinese storytelling and digital artistry.
