China's Zhang Shuai and France's Kristina Mladenovic kicked off their Dubai Tennis Championships campaign with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over seventh-seeded duo Sofia Kenin (U.S.) and Lyudmyla Kichenok (Ukraine) in Sunday’s opening round. The pair dominated from the start, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first set and maintaining momentum despite a brief second-set challenge.
The Chinese-French partnership, known for their aggressive net play, converted 78% of break points and fired seven aces. They’ll next face American pair McCartney Kessler and Clara Tauson, who are making their Dubai debut.
