Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need to uphold a UN-centered international system during a keynote address at the Munich Security Conference on Friday. Speaking at the 'China in the World' session, Wang stressed that while interpretations of global rules may vary, the foundational goal remains strengthening multilateral cooperation under the United Nations Charter.
'China has grown within this system and will work to steer it toward fairness while addressing development, security, and governance challenges,' Wang said. He highlighted China’s proposed 'community with a shared future for mankind' as a framework gaining traction among nations seeking collaborative solutions.
The foreign minister also pledged China’s commitment to providing 'global public goods,' referencing initiatives like infrastructure development partnerships and climate action plans. Over 100 countries have reportedly expressed support for China’s collaborative approach to reforming international institutions.
Wang’s remarks come as geopolitical tensions reshape alliances worldwide. Analysts note that his emphasis on 'no double standards' reflects growing calls from developing economies for equitable representation in global decision-making processes.
