Wang emphasized China's role as a 'force for peace and stability,' citing its status as the UN Security Council's largest contributor of peacekeepers and the second-largest funder of UN peacekeeping operations. 'China has the world's best record on peace and security,' Wang asserted, advocating for NATO to develop an 'objective and correct understanding' of Beijing's intentions.

Rutte assured that NATO—as a regional defense bloc—'has no intention to expand to Asia,' while expressing willingness to strengthen dialogue. The discussion comes as European officials increasingly scrutinize China's growing global influence. Both leaders agreed on the need for enhanced communication to address 'misunderstandings' in an era of complex security challenges.

The diplomats also addressed the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Rutte acknowledging China's 'influence and role' in potential mediation efforts. Wang reaffirmed China's commitment to political negotiations, pledging to collaborate on building a 'balanced, effective and sustainable European security framework.'

As global power dynamics shift, this dialogue marks a critical step in navigating 21st-century security architecture while balancing regional and geopolitical ambitions.
