Veteran freeskier Xu Mengtao will proudly carry the Chinese flag at the 9th Asian Winter Games closing ceremony in Harbin, cementing her legacy as one of China’s most decorated winter athletes. The announcement, made Thursday by the Chinese delegation, comes after Xu secured two gold medals and one silver in women’s aerials and team events during the Games.
Xu, who also served as flagbearer at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, called the honor “a profound mission” on social media. “Displaying the spirit of Chinese athletes is my responsibility,” she wrote, highlighting her excitement for the role.
With three Asian Winter Games medals and prior Olympic glory, the 33-year-old athlete continues to inspire a new generation of winter sports enthusiasts across the Chinese mainland and beyond.
