China, Mongolia Pledge Closer Ties in Energy, Tech & Culture

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene committed to deepening bilateral cooperation during talks at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin. Their discussions highlighted plans to align Mongolia's development strategies with China's Belt and Road Initiative while expanding partnerships in energy, AI, and green technology.

The leaders emphasized strengthening mineral resources, infrastructure connectivity, and cross-border trade. Premier Li noted China's interest in collaborating on “emerging areas like artificial intelligence and green development,” signaling opportunities for startups and tech innovators.

A key focus was cultural diplomacy: both nations agreed to boost tourism exchanges and youth programs. Oyun-Erdene praised China’s hosting of the Winter Games, calling it a platform to “promote Asian values.” Mongolia also reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China policy during the talks.

This partnership aligns with broader regional goals, as both countries pledged to “safeguard regional peace” through multilateral cooperation, appealing to sustainability advocates and global policymakers.
