A Festival of Light and Unity
As Lunar New Year celebrations draw to a close, China’s Lantern Festival lit up cities on February 12 with dazzling displays of cultural pride. From glowing paper lanterns to high-tech drone spectacles, communities across the Chinese mainland embraced ancient traditions while adding modern twists.
Jincheng’s Sky-High Spectacle
In Shanxi Province, Jincheng transformed into a luminous dreamscape. Crowds marveled at lanterns depicting mythical figures like the \"Black Myth Wukong\" and the love-themed Qingniao, while 500 synchronized drones painted the night sky with symbolic patterns. \"The fusion of tradition and technology shows our heritage isn’t frozen in time—it evolves,\" said local event coordinator Liang Mei.
Tongren’s Riddle Revolution
Southwest China’s Guizhou Province offered a different flavor, with ethnic dance parades and a lantern riddle alley featuring 2,000 puzzles. Visitors snapped selfies alongside performers in vibrant Miao and Dong minority costumes, while drummers kept energy levels high. \"Solving riddles with strangers reminds us that joy needs no translation,\" remarked tourist Zhang Wei.
