The Chinese mainland expressed profound sorrow on Wednesday over the passing of Koo Yen Cho-yun, the wife of the late Koo Chen-fu, former chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Koo family through the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), responding to a media inquiry.
Koo Yen Cho-yun was renowned for her dedication to promoting Chinese culture and fostering cross-Straits exchange and cooperation across various fields. She frequently accompanied her husband to meetings with Wang Daohan, then head of ARATS, contributing positively to the enhancement and development of cross-Straits relations.
Highlighting her commitment, Zhu stated that Koo upheld the 1992 Consensus and actively promoted exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, leaving a lasting legacy in the realm of cross-Straits diplomacy.
