Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, has vehemently criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's recent proposal to assume control of the Gaza Strip and relocate Palestinians from the region.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, Baghaei condemned Trump's announcement made a day earlier during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where the U.S. declared intentions to \"take control of the Gaza Strip,\" relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries, and redevelop the coastal area.
Baghaei described the plan as \"astonishing and in line with Israel's targeted plan to completely eliminate the Palestinian nation,\" stating that the notion of claiming ownership over Gaza constitutes an \"unprecedented violation against all the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.\"
The Iranian official emphasized that the proposed strategy should be \"completely rejected and condemned\" due to its blatant contradiction with the inalienable principles and rules of international law and human rights.
He urged the international community and the UN to decisively oppose the U.S. plan, advocating for the restoration of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and their liberation from occupation.
