Chinese Paddlers Advance to Round of 16 at Singapore Smash

Chinese paddlers are making waves at the Singapore Smash, securing their spots in the round of 16 with impressive performances.

Second-seeded Lin Shidong triumphed over France's Simon Gauzy with scores of 11-5, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9 in the men's singles second round. Lin, showcasing his versatility, also competed in men's doubles alongside Wang Chuqin and mixed doubles with Kuai Man, securing victories in both events. In the men's doubles, Lin and Wang defeated the home wild card pair Clarence Chew and Josh Chua in straight games, while in mixed doubles, they overcame the fifth-seeded Cho Dae-seong and Shin Yu-bin of South Korea.

Another standout performance came from Xue Fei, who upset Japan's third seed Tomokazu Harimoto with scores of 11-6, 6-11, 11-6, earning a place in the round of 16 where he will face France's thirteenth seed Alexis Lebrun.

On the women's side, top seed Sun continued her dominant streak by defeating Japan's Miyuu Kihara 11-8, 11-7, 11-3. Sun is set to challenge Austria's fourteenth seed Sofia Polcanova in the next round. Additionally, He Zhuojia advanced after a convincing win over Japan's sixth seed Miwa Harimoto with scores of 11-4, 11-4, 11-9, and will now face ninth-seeded Shin of South Korea.

These accomplishments highlight the strength and depth of Chinese paddlers in the international table tennis scene, setting the stage for exciting matches ahead in the Singapore Smash.
