Harbin, a winter sports hub in the Chinese mainland's Heilongjiang Province, will welcome athletes and fans from across Asia for the 9th Asian Winter Games from February 7–14, 2025. The event, announced alongside a global opinion poll launched by CGTN, aims to spotlight regional unity and winter sports culture against the backdrop of Harbin’s iconic ice sculptures and snow-covered landscapes.

With a countdown clock already installed at Harbin West Railway Station, anticipation is building for competitions in disciplines like ice hockey, figure skating, and alpine skiing. The Games are expected to draw over 2,000 athletes from more than 30 countries and regions, fostering cross-cultural exchange and boosting winter tourism in Northeast Asia.

CGTN’s online poll invites global audiences to weigh in on topics ranging from sustainability initiatives to event highlights, offering a platform for international voices to shape the narrative around the Games.

Harbin, known for its annual Ice and Snow Festival, plans to leverage existing infrastructure, including eco-friendly arenas powered by renewable energy, aligning with global climate goals. Meanwhile, local businesses anticipate a surge in economic activity, with hotels and transport networks preparing for an influx of visitors.

For digital nomads and travelers, the Games add another layer to Harbin’s allure—combining athletic excellence with immersive cultural experiences in one of Asia’s coldest and most picturesque cities.
