Gu Ailing Withdraws from Asian Winter Games Due to Injury

Winter Olympic champion Gu Ailing announced her withdrawal from the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin, citing injuries sustained during the 2025 Winter X Games and subsequent training setbacks. The Chinese freeski star revealed in a social media post that a severe contusion from a fall in Aspen, Colorado, and a recent training injury forced her to prioritize recovery.

\"It is with a heavy heart that I have to withdraw from the Harbin Asian Winter Games, which I had long been looking forward to,\" Gu wrote on Weibo. She expressed solidarity with fellow athletes, adding she is focusing on rehabilitation to rejoin competitions this season.

The Harbin Asian Winter Games, set to open this Friday, will proceed without one of China’s most celebrated winter sports figures. Organizers confirmed the event will run through February 14, featuring athletes from over 30 countries and regions.
