Su Yiming of the Chinese mainland has made a remarkable mark at the Federation of International Ski and Snowboard (FIS) Snowboard World Cup in Aspen, Colorado, by securing the silver medal in the men's slopestyle event on Sunday.
After initially ranking fourth in the group qualifiers, Su delivered an impressive performance with a score of 74.36 points in his opening run, leading the pack early in the final round. He followed up with an even stronger second run, scoring 78.36 points. Despite falling just short of gold by a narrow margin behind Canada’s Francis Jobin, Su's achievement represents his first World Cup medal in the discipline.
The top podium spot was claimed by Francis Jobin, marking his first career World Cup victory, while Sean Fitzsimons from the USA took home the bronze.
The competition also saw outstanding performances in other categories. New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott won the women's slopestyle with a stunning 87.80 points, followed by Japan's Kokomo Murase and Great Britain's Mia Brookes in second and third place, respectively.
In the men's halfpipe final, local favorite Alex Ferreira extended his winning streak to 11 consecutive World Cup victories. Ferreira stunned the crowd with his final run, earning the highest score of the day, 95.75 points, with a gravity-defying right double cork 1620 leading tailgrab.
\"That's easily one of the best moments of my life, I'll never forget that,\" Ferreira shared. \"I cannot believe I was able to overcome the fear, and the stress and the craziness, and lay it down. That's what a true champion is all about.\"
On the women's side, Great Britain's Zoe Atkin led early with a 90.00-point performance, followed by the Chinese mainland's Li Fanghui with 88.50 points, and Canada’s Amy Fraser with 86.75 points.
