Shenzhen Sand Artist Unveils Chinese Zodiac at CGTN Super Night

In a mesmerizing display of artistry and tradition, renowned sand artist Xiao Sixin from Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on the Chinese mainland, captivated audiences at this year's CGTN Super Night.

Utilizing flowing and shifting sand, Xiao Sixin masterfully brought the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac to life, each passing a paper scroll symbolizing their sacred duty to oversee and protect each year. This innovative performance seamlessly blended traditional Chinese culture with contemporary art forms, offering viewers a unique and immersive cultural experience.

The Chinese zodiac comprises the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. These zodiac signs interweave with the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches of the traditional Chinese calendar, creating a 60-year cycle that symbolizes the rhythm of time and the cycle of life in Chinese philosophy.

The performance not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese mainland but also showcased Xiao Sixin's exceptional talent in merging ancient symbolism with modern artistic expression, making it a standout event for art enthusiasts and cultural aficionados alike.
