UN Chief Extends Warm Wishes for Chinese Lunar New Year

In a heartfelt video message, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres extended his warm greetings to individuals celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese Spring Festival. Kicking off his address with the traditional greeting \"Chunjie Kuaile,\" Guterres emphasized the significance of the Year of the Snake.

\"I'm pleased to send my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating Lunar New Year and this Year of the Snake,\" Guterres stated. \"The snake symbolizes wisdom, resilience, and renewal. In these strained times, let us be guided by these qualities and renew our commitment to peace, equality, and justice.\"

The UN chief also expressed his gratitude towards China and the Chinese people for their steadfast support of the United Nations, multilateralism, and global cooperation.

\"I thank China and the Chinese people for your steadfast support of the United Nations, multilateralism and global cooperation. Let us embrace new beginnings with hope and determination to create a better future for all,\" he added.

\"May the Year of the Snake bring good health, happiness, prosperity, and new beginnings,\" Guterres concluded.

The Chinese Lunar New Year falls on January 29 this year.
