Kicking off his address with the traditional greeting \"Chunjie Kuaile,\" Guterres emphasized the significance of the Year of the Snake.
\"I'm pleased to send my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating Lunar New Year and this Year of the Snake,\" Guterres stated. \"The snake symbolizes wisdom, resilience, and renewal. In these strained times, let us be guided by these qualities and renew our commitment to peace, equality, and justice.\"
The UN chief also expressed his gratitude towards China and the Chinese people for their steadfast support of the United Nations, multilateralism, and global cooperation.
