China's Spring Festival, also known as the Lunar New Year, has once again witnessed a record-breaking surge in travel as millions embark on journeys to reunite with loved ones. The bustling Shenzhen North Railway Station in south China serves as a gateway for countless families making the trek back to their hometowns. Among them is Wang Hui, a resident of Shenzhen, who despite building a life in the metropolis, feels a strong yearning for her roots during this festive season. 'I've been in Shenzhen since university, and now I have my own family, but every year, as the Spring Festival approaches, I can't help but feel the pull of home,' Wang shared. Similarly, Zhong, another traveler from Shenzhen, is heading back to her Chenzhou hometown in Hunan Province after more than a decade in the city. She emphasizes the importance of family reunions and the preservation of cultural traditions during this time. 'The Spring Festival is when you want to be with family and embrace the traditions that connect us,' Zhong remarked. These personal journeys highlight the enduring significance of the Spring Festival as a time for connection, tradition, and celebration across China.
