In a thrilling matchup on Wednesday, the Beikong Royal Fighters triumphed over the Guangzhou Loong Lions with a final score of 116-113. This victory marks the sixth consecutive loss for the home team in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
The star of the night was veteran guard Guo Ailun, who delivered a spectacular performance by scoring 40 points. Guo's achievement is particularly notable as it marks his first 40-point game since April 7, 2022, ending a remarkable streak of 1,017 days.
The game started off closely, with Guangzhou taking an early lead of 11-6 before Beikong responded with an 8-2 run. Grant Riller secured the visitors' lead with a decisive jumper, making it 28-27. Despite Guo's efforts to keep the game alive with two crucial free throws, Beikong held firm. In the final moments, McCall attempted a three-pointer for Guangzhou, but it missed, sealing Beikong's hard-fought victory.
