China and Brazil Strengthen Ties on BRICS, Climate, and Peace Initiatives

In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in a productive phone conversation with Celso Amorim, special advisor to the Brazilian president, on Wednesday.

The discussion highlighted the successful state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil last November. During this historic visit, both leaders achieved landmark outcomes that set a grand blueprint for the future of China-Brazil relations.

Wang Yi emphasized the importance of fully implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state. This includes advancing key areas of cooperation within the framework of aligning their development strategies, thereby enriching the China-Brazil community with a shared future.

The conversation also touched upon the expanding BRICS family. China expressed strong support for Brazil's presidency of BRICS this year and its efforts to drive new achievements in greater BRICS cooperation. Additionally, China supports Brazil in hosting the upcoming UN climate change conference, underscoring their commitment to global sustainability.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum. Wang Yi reaffirmed China's readiness to collaborate with Brazil and other countries to build a China-Latin America community with a shared future.

Addressing the ongoing Ukraine crisis, Wang highlighted the significance of the \"six-point consensus\" jointly issued by China and Brazil. This consensus aims to gather support from the Global South and create favorable conditions for peace talks through the \"Friends of Peace\" platform.

Celso Amorim echoed these sentiments, praising President Xi's state visit as highly successful. Amorim stressed the importance of implementing the visit's results to foster comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Brazil.

He also expressed Brazil's commitment to the China-CELAC Forum, aiming to strengthen coordination with China for the successful execution of this year's event. Amorim emphasized the crucial role of the \"Friends of Peace\" platform in advancing peace efforts in Ukraine.

As China and Brazil continue to deepen their partnership, their collaborative efforts in BRICS, climate action, and peace initiatives are set to contribute to a more just and sustainable world.
