Yabuli, located in the Chinese mainland's Heilongjiang Province, is gearing up to host the snowboard events for next month's Harbin Asian Winter Games. The anticipation is building as preparations continue with a spectacular big air test event held at the Yabuli Winter Sports Center.
The test course spanned 214 meters in length and 30 meters in width, featuring a challenging 62-meter drop. This event also served as China's National Championship, attracting top talent from across the nation.
In the men's big air final, ten snowboarders competed fiercely. Yang Jinghan from Sichuan Sports College delivered an impressive performance, scoring 79.33 points on his first run. He soared to new heights with a dazzling 1800-spin maneuver, earning 95.66 points on his second attempt and securing the top position with a total of 174.99 points.
The women's big air event was equally thrilling, featuring eight athletes. The competition narrowed down to a tight race between Zhang Yuting of the Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center and Gan Jiajia of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Ultimately, Zhang triumphed with a score of 158.00 points, narrowly edging out Gan by 2.34 points to claim the title.
The 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games are scheduled to take place from February 7 to February 14, promising an exciting showcase of winter sports talent from across the continent.
