In a steadfast move towards enhancing governmental integrity, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of building a clean government and intensifying anti-corruption measures during a recent State Council meeting.
Premier Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted the necessity of improving Party conduct to ensure high-quality development and support the Chinese modernization drive.
Addressing the assembly, Li stressed the critical need to implement the strategic plans set forth by the CPC Central Committee, focusing on comprehensive and rigorous Party self-governance. He acknowledged the ongoing challenges in the anti-corruption landscape and called for unwavering dedication in combating corrupt practices.
Premier Li underscored the importance of adhering to financial discipline and managing public funds effectively. He urged efforts to prevent corruption and advocated for stringent penalties for those involved in corrupt activities, particularly in key sectors such as finance, state-owned assets, state-owned enterprises, and construction project bidding.
Furthermore, Li called on leading Party members at all levels of government and within all departments to take responsibility for upholding rigorous Party self-governance. He encouraged them to promote clean governance through deepening reforms and diligently executing their duties.
The meeting was presided over by Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese vice premier, with Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, in attendance.
