China and ASEAN Unite to Tackle Telecom Fraud and Online Gambling

In a decisive move to protect citizens' interests, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced China's commitment to collaborate with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in combating cross-border online gambling and telecom fraud. Speaking during a meeting with diplomatic envoys from 10 ASEAN countries in Beijing, Wang emphasized the rising threat posed by these illicit activities, particularly along the Thailand-Myanmar border.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that recent cases of online gambling and telecom fraud have not only endangered the lives and property of Chinese citizens but also those of individuals from other nations. He called on ASEAN countries to take responsibility and implement robust measures to eradicate these crimes.

This collaboration aims to enhance regional security and ensure the safety and well-being of people across borders. By strengthening international cooperation, China and ASEAN are set to create a safer digital and physical environment for their citizens.
