Xi Calls for Strengthened China-Vietnam Ties to Boost Productive Forces

In a significant move to deepen bilateral relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged China and Vietnam to enhance connectivity and collaboratively build a platform for new quality productive forces. During a recent phone conversation with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Xi emphasized the importance of establishing stable and efficient cross-border industrial and supply chains.

Reflecting on Lam's state visit to China last August, Xi highlighted the extensive discussions that led to a broader consensus on strengthening ties between the two nations. Over the past six months, he noted, substantial progress has been achieved in this partnership.

Looking ahead, 2025 stands as a pivotal year marking the end of China's 14th Five-Year Plan and the preparation for Vietnam's 14th National Congress. Xi described this period as a time of great significance, offering both continuity and a fresh start for both countries.

He called for the continued rejuvenation and strengthening of the parties, the deepening of exchanges in socialist theory and practice, and the promotion of the socialist cause amidst unprecedented global changes. Xi stressed the importance of maintaining close political exchanges and pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation.

Furthermore, Xi advocated for warm and down-to-earth people-to-people and cultural exchanges, aiming to connect the hearts of the people. He highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation in media, culture, tourism, and youth engagement, as well as at the sub-national level, to create projects that resonate with the populace.

On the international front, Xi urged both nations to bolster cooperation and coordination, uphold international fairness and justice, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Reflecting on Vietnam's progress, Xi praised the CPV's leadership and the unity of the Vietnamese people in overcoming challenges and achieving new milestones in socialist construction and renovation.

To Lam expressed condolences to China over the recent earthquake in Xizang and expressed confidence in China's ability to recover swiftly. He also lauded China's development achievements and expressed belief in China's continued economic growth and productivity advancements.
