China-Grenada Alliance Strengthens in New Energy, Digital Economy

China is set to deepen its partnership with Grenada, focusing on innovative sectors like new energy, the digital economy, and the blue economy. During talks in Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the alignment of development strategies to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

Premier Li highlighted the 20-year diplomatic relationship, noting that both sides have maintained mutual respect and equality, leading to significant advancements in various cooperative fields. He expressed China’s commitment to consolidating political trust, supporting each other’s core interests, and expanding collaboration to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

The discussion also covered high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, with plans to strengthen traditional sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and healthcare, while venturing into emerging areas like new energy and the digital economy. Premier Li encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in Grenada, fostering economic growth and innovation.

Addressing climate change, China pledged assistance to Grenada and other Caribbean nations in climate adaptation, aiming to support the effective implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. This initiative underscores China’s role in promoting a community with a shared future for mankind.

Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell praised China’s contributions to poverty alleviation and its ongoing support for Grenada’s economic and social development. He reiterated Grenada’s commitment to the one-China principle and expressed support for China’s major global initiatives, ensuring enhanced multilateral cooperation.

The talks concluded with the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation agreements, encompassing areas such as the Belt and Road, economy, trade, green development, culture, media, and climate change. These agreements mark a significant step forward in the China-Grenada relationship, promising sustained growth and collaboration.
