In a significant move to strengthen their bilateral relations, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee in the Chinese mainland, met with Maulen Ashimbayev, chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan, in Beijing on Monday.
Zhao emphasized the friendly and cooperative relationship between China and Kazakhstan, highlighting that the presidents of both nations had formulated new plans last year to elevate the development of their bilateral ties to a higher level.

Zhao further expressed hope that the legislatures of both countries would enhance exchanges and cooperation, providing a solid legal foundation for the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical collaboration across various sectors.
Maulen Ashimbayev echoed these sentiments, noting that under the guidance of the two heads of state, relations between Kazakhstan and China have entered a golden period of rapid growth.
Ashimbayev added that the Senate of Kazakhstan is eager to deepen exchanges and mutual learning with the NPC of the Chinese mainland in areas such as legislation, emphasizing the crucial role of legislative bodies in strengthening bilateral relations.
