Harbin Airport Launches E-Channels for Swift Passages Ahead of Asian Winter Games

As the host city for the upcoming ninth Asian Winter Games, Harbin, located in Heilongjiang Province of the Chinese mainland, has launched automated border control systems, or E-channels, to improve efficiency for both arrivals and departures at Harbin Taiping International Airport.

These E-channels, the first of their kind in the province, were officially put into use on Friday afternoon. Eligible passengers arriving on flights from Seoul, South Korea, were the first to utilize the new system, completing quick entry into China via the E-channels.

A total of 14 E-channels have been established, including eight for arrivals and six for departures. This setup allows 228 passengers to go through quick arrivals and departures, effectively reducing the workload on regular counters.

Harbin Taiping International Airport anticipates a significant increase in passenger flow with the approaching Asian Winter Games, the Spring Festival, and the ice and snow tourism season. Consequently, the introduction of E-channels will become increasingly essential.

The ninth Asian Winter Games are scheduled to begin on February 7 and conclude on February 14.
