China and UK Kick Off 11th Economic Dialogue in Beijing

The 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue is set to take place on January 11 in Beijing, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties. Announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Friday, the dialogue will be co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.

Guo highlighted that the resumption of this high-level dialogue aims to implement the vital consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Established in 2008, the dialogue serves as a crucial platform for discussing strategic, overall, and long-term issues in the economic and financial sectors.

During this 11th edition, delegates will delve into a range of topics including macroeconomic policies, economic globalization, trade and investment, industrial cooperation, financial market development, and financial regulatory cooperation. These discussions are expected to pave the way for enhanced economic growth and green development in both nations.

Emphasizing the importance of this dialogue, Guo noted that strengthening economic and financial exchanges between China and the UK aligns with the interests of both countries and meets global economic expectations. He added that this dialogue will not only promote economic cooperation but also inject new momentum into global economic growth.

Both sides are optimistic about exploring new avenues for cooperation, aiming to achieve pragmatic results that benefit both economies. The dialogue underscores the commitment of China and the UK to fostering a resilient and prosperous economic partnership.
