In a significant move to strengthen international ties, Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell is set to visit China from January 11 to 17. This official visit coincides with the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Grenada.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced the visit, highlighting the importance of this milestone. \"China warmly welcomes Prime Minister Mitchell's visit on this special occasion,\" Guo stated.
During his stay, Prime Minister Mitchell will engage in high-level meetings with key Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The agenda includes a welcoming ceremony, talks between the two governments, and a signing ceremony for cooperation documents. Additionally, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, will meet with Mitchell to discuss bilateral relations.
The visit will also take Prime Minister Mitchell to Zhejiang and Shanghai, expanding the dialogue beyond the capital city of Beijing. These discussions aim to deepen practical cooperation across various sectors, enhance mutual trust, and elevate the friendship between the two nations to new heights.
Guo emphasized the strategic importance of Grenada in the Caribbean region and reiterated that the two countries have maintained a relationship grounded in mutual respect and support over the past two decades. \"Bilateral relations remain sound and steady,\" he added.
As Grenada continues to be an essential partner for China in the Caribbean, this visit is expected to further cement political mutual trust and explore new avenues for collaboration, ensuring that the ties between the two nations continue to flourish.
