China has officially announced its delegation for the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy. The 84-member team includes 48 athletes representing 13 universities, set to compete in a variety of sports including Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, curling, and short track speed skating.
With an average age of 22, the majority of these athletes are making their debut at a world multi-sport event, highlighting the new generation of Chinese sports talent. The China University Sports Federation has been diligently preparing the team through a series of selection events, with training camps currently underway in Beijing and Jilin Province in northeast China.
Liu Lixin, head of the Chinese delegation, expressed optimism about the team's prospects. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the positive image of China's younger generation on the global stage, building international friendships with youth worldwide, and fostering cultural exchanges among participating teams.
The 11-sport Winter Universiade in Turin, scheduled from January 13 to 23, will bring together over 2,600 athletes and officials from 55 countries and regions, making it a significant event for international university sports.
