Southwest China’s Xizang Region Hit by M6.8 Earthquake, 95 Dead

A devastating magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, located in the southwest region of Xizang Autonomous Region, China, at 9:05 a.m. Beijing time on Tuesday.

Local officials reported that the death toll has risen to 95 as of 3 p.m. Beijing time, with an additional 130 individuals injured in the quake.

The earthquake has left the affected communities grappling with the immediate aftermath, as rescue and relief efforts are underway to aid those impacted by the disaster.
