Speaking to a delegation led by Taitung County head Rao Ching-ling, Song emphasized the importance of unity and opposition to \"Taiwan independence.\"
Song highlighted that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits are one family, advocating for close and united relations. He affirmed that the mainland is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of compatriots across both sides and advancing the peaceful and integrated development of cross-Straits relations.
Further reinforcing his stance, Song stressed the necessity of adhering to the 1992 Consensus and working collectively towards the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He reiterated the mainland's opposition to any form of \"Taiwan independence.\"
In response, Rao expressed gratitude for the mainland's decision to resume and expand shipments of sugar apples from Taitung. She acknowledged that cross-Straits exchanges, rooted in upholding the 1992 Consensus and opposing \"Taiwan independence,\" are pivotal in fostering peaceful development and benefiting compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
