Guangdong Southern Tigers Secure Second Straight Win in Thrilling Match

The Guangdong Southern Tigers triumphed over the Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin with a close score of 98-93 in Dongguan, securing their second consecutive victory.

Despite playing on the road, Shandong was eager to notch their sixth win in a row. They kicked off the game strong, with Jarmar Gulley hitting five three-pointers and completing a four-point play in the first quarter.

Guangdong relied on Xu Jie, who responded by sinking five three-pointers in the first half, bringing the score to a tight 56-51 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Xu transitioned to playmaking, leading his teammates Huang Rongqi, Zhang Haojia, and Troy Gillenwater in a decisive 14-0 run that shifted the momentum in Guangdong's favor. Shandong attempted to stay close with a 7-0 run, but the first half ended with both teams tied at 79-79.

As the game moved into the fourth quarter, Ren Junfei and Du Runwang took charge for Guangdong, while Shandong struggled to maintain their earlier momentum, scoring only four points over nine minutes and thirty-nine seconds. Marquese Chriss managed to make both of his free throw attempts, but Shandong found themselves trailing 92-85 with just two minutes left.

In the final moments, Yu Dehao and Xie Zhijie hit crucial three-pointers for Shandong, but Du and Gillenwater ensured Guangdong's lead remained unchallenged by sinking all four of their free throw attempts, sealing the win for the home team.
