This moment sparked a lifelong dream: owning a house beneath its ancient stones. Nearly two decades later, in 1994, Spear's dream became a reality when he acquired a residence in Beijing's charming Mutianyu Village.
Upon moving in, Spear embarked on an ambitious renovation journey. He breathed new life into an abandoned primary school, transforming it into a vibrant restaurant, a unique art glass shop, and a contemporary gallery. His vision didn't stop there. In 2006, he took on the challenge of revitalizing a disused glaze tile factory in Beigou Village, converting it into a trendy hotel that blends historical architecture with modern amenities.
Spear's projects are a testament to the harmonious blend of old and new, preserving Beijing's rich cultural heritage while infusing it with innovative design.
