Chinese mainland Condemns Taiwan Authorities for Halting Media Exchanges

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council expressed strong disapproval on Thursday towards Taiwan authorities led by Lai Ching-te for intentionally obstructing media exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the office, criticized the suspension of a Fujian-based newspaper and its parent organization from stationing reporters in Taiwan, labeling the move as an attempt to engage in \"united front work.\"

Chen emphasized that since taking office, the Lai authorities have consistently restricted and hindered cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation. He dismissed the accusations against the mainland media outlet as unfounded.

Highlighting over two decades of mutual journalist stationing, Chen noted that such collaborations have significantly enhanced understanding between the two sides and fostered peaceful relations. He described the recent actions by Lai authorities as a \"regression\" in media cooperation.

Calling the move a \"deliberate sabotage against cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation,\" Chen urged the Lai authorities to immediately halt their political manipulation and restore the collaborative spirit that has long benefited both sides.
