Xi and Peng Send Warm New Year Greetings to U.S. Middle School Students

In a heartfelt gesture, Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, extended their New Year wishes to middle school teachers and students in Washington State. On Wednesday, the couple sent a personalized New Year card to representatives from Lincoln High School and Stadium High School, celebrating the spirit of international friendship and cooperation.

The card commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, emphasizing the enduring bond between China and the United States forged during the Second World War. Xi and Peng highlighted how their shared history has strengthened the friendship between the two nations, standing the test of time and adversity.

Expressing their optimism for the future, the couple encouraged young people from both countries to engage in exchange programs. They reiterated China's initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China over the next five years for study and cultural exchange, aiming to deepen mutual understanding and foster lasting relationships. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance China-U.S. relations and contribute to global peace.

Earlier, the U.S.-China Youth and Student Exchange Association, along with over 100 teachers and students from Lincoln High School and Stadium High School, reciprocated by sending a New Year card to Xi, Peng, and the Chinese people. The card, written in Chinese, extended warm greetings and best wishes for enduring friendship between China and the United States.

These exchanges underscore the importance of youth engagement in building bridges between nations and promote a vision of collaborative growth and harmony.
