On November 28, 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in the southern Taklimakan Desert, located in Yutian County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The planting of the final rose seedling marked the completion of a green belt that now wraps around the southern edge of the desert.
Despite this accomplishment, the battle against desertification is far from over. Ongoing efforts focus on expanding and reinforcing the green belt, utilizing bulldozers to level dunes, fill large pits, and smooth over more than 530 hectares of sandy land in Yutian County.
