China has officially unveiled the emblem representing its tenure as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2024-2025.
The emblem features classical patterns of cloud, thunder, and dragon inspired by bronze ware from the pre-Qin period (before 221 BC). These elements are intricately arranged in the traditional Hui-style pattern, symbolizing an unending cycle of hope, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.
China took over the rotating presidency of the SCO following the Astana summit in July 2024. During its presidency, China will host the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO, a significant event for the organization.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is the first international organization with China as a founding member and derives its name from a Chinese city, highlighting China's foundational role within the group.
