China's news media industry is making significant strides in fostering global collaboration, according to the latest report titled \"Development of China's News Media (2024)\" released by the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) on Tuesday.
The report highlights how Chinese media organizations and industry authorities have been actively promoting international exchanges among news media professionals. Key initiatives include the Belt and Road Journalists Forum, joint interviews and training activities, the China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Journalists Roundtable, and the China-Mongolia Media Forum.
In addition to hosting dozens of foreign press delegations, the ACJA has also organized Chinese press delegations to visit multiple countries, facilitating a two-way exchange of media practices and ideas. These efforts aim to strengthen ties and enhance mutual understanding between Chinese media and their international counterparts.
Major events spearheaded by prominent media organizations include the People's Daily's Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road in August 2024, which unveiled the Chengdu Initiative on Media Cooperation. In 2023, Xinhua News Agency expanded its global footprint by signing news exchange and cooperation agreements with 33 mainstream media and government agencies across 25 countries and regions, resulting in a total of 173 contracts covering 124 countries and regions.
Notable foreign exchange events hosted by Xinhua include the World Media Summit, the BRICS Media Forum, the Plenary Meeting of the Belt and Road Studies Network, and the China-Central Asia News Agency Forum. Additionally, China Media Group (CMG) has been instrumental in organizing the Journey Through Civilizations World Tour, \"Chinese Modernization and the World\" media events, and the CMG Forum during 2022 and 2023.
These initiatives underscore China's commitment to enhancing its global media presence and fostering international cooperation within the news industry.
