China to Launch 10,000 5G-Powered Factories by 2027

In a bold move to revolutionize its industrial landscape, China has unveiled plans to establish 10,000 factories powered by 5G technology by 2027. This ambitious initiative, announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday, aims to position China at the forefront of the digital industrial revolution.

The strategy focuses on integrating information and communication technology (ICT) to create a robust industrial network system centered around 5G. By 2027, the plan targets the widespread incorporation of 5G and Industrial Internet across key sectors of the real economy, encompassing network infrastructure, technological products, integrated applications, industrial ecosystems, and public services.

Tang Libo from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology highlighted the comprehensive approach required to meet future industrial demands. "Technologies such as 5G-A, AI, new industrial control systems, and industrial computing power will be holistically considered to promote the development of a new industrial network system," Tang explained.

Currently, China boasts over 17,000 5G+ Industrial Internet projects, spanning all 41 major industrial sectors. The country has already built more than 4,000 5G-enabled factories, with 700 featured in MIIT's list of high-level 5G factories. These facilities demonstrate significant advancements in industries such as manufacturing, mining, power, and ports, showcasing the practical applications of 5G technology in enhancing operational efficiency and innovation.

By accelerating the integration of 5G and Industrial Internet technologies, China aims to foster a high-quality development ecosystem. This initiative not only aims to boost the country's industrial capabilities but also seeks to set new standards for the global industrial landscape.
