CATL Launches ‘Choco-Swap’: Transforming EV Battery Swapping Standards

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL), a leading battery manufacturer from the Chinese mainland, has introduced two innovative standard swappable batteries under the brand name \"choco-swap.\" This launch marks a significant advancement in the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, aiming to enhance the convenience and efficiency of battery swapping.

The new battery packs come in two models based on different chemical systems, offering a range of capacities to suit various user needs. Each pack is available in both lithium iron phosphate and ternary compositions, providing flexibility in power supply options. With endurance mileage ranging from 400 to 600 kilometers, these batteries cater to diverse driving requirements.

In collaboration with nearly 100 partners, CATL is building a robust power charging ecology. The company has ambitious plans to establish 1,000 battery swap stations by 2025, significantly expanding the infrastructure needed to support widespread EV adoption.

Leveraging its extensive battery database, CATL monitors both historical and real-time data for each battery swap unit and individual cell. By integrating large-scale models to track battery degradation, CATL ensures optimal battery performance and maximizes the value of each battery cycle.

CATL's dominance in the EV battery market is underscored by its position as the top global battery supplier for seven consecutive years. In 2023, CATL held a 36.8 percent market share, according to market research firm SNE Research. Headquartered in Ningde, Fujian Province, CATL has secured supply contracts with major global automobile manufacturers, including BMW, Volkswagen, Daimler, and Honda, further solidifying its influence in the industry.
