China-Japan Relations at Pivotal Improvement Stage, Announces Premier Li

In a significant development, Chinese Premier Li Qiang declared that China-Japan relations are entering a crucial stage of improvement and development. This statement was made during a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya in Beijing on Wednesday.

Premier Li emphasized China’s willingness to collaborate with Japan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both nations. He highlighted the aim to promote sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations and achieve new milestones in pragmatic cooperation.

Describing China and Japan as \"close neighbors that cannot be moved away from each other,\" Premier Li underscored the solemn commitment both countries have made to remain cooperative partners rather than adversaries.

\"It is hoped that Japan will work with China, abide by the principles laid down in the four China-Japan political documents, face history squarely and look to the future, constructively manage differences and disputes, and take care of the big picture of China-Japan relations,\" Li stated.

He further called on both sides to expand economic and trade relations, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.

Responding to Premier Li’s remarks, Foreign Minister Iwaya expressed Japan’s willingness to make joint efforts with China to enhance exchanges at all levels, particularly focusing on people-to-people interactions. He emphasized the goal to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, improve public opinion towards each other, and comprehensively advance strategic relations of mutual benefit, aiming to build constructive and stable Japan-China relations.
