China has announced its intention to explore the 'One Country, Two Systems' framework as a potential solution for peaceful reunification with Taiwan. A spokesperson from the Chinese mainland emphasized that this approach would fully consider Taiwan's unique circumstances, including the perspectives and interests of its residents.
During a recent press conference, Chen Binhua, representing the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, highlighted the commitment to uniting with Taiwan compatriots through active exploration of this solution. Chen stated that understanding Taiwan's realities and taking into account the viewpoints of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are crucial steps toward achieving peaceful reunification.
\"We believe that the people of Taiwan will develop a better understanding of the 'One Country, Two Systems',\" Chen said. He further noted that this approach would play a significant role as both sides work together towards reunification.
Marking the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China, Chen pointed out that Macao's successful implementation of the 'One Country, Two Systems' model serves as evidence of its effectiveness and strong institutional support, reinforcing its viability for Taiwan.
