China Voices Strong Opposition to US 2025 Defense Bill

The Chinese mainland has formally expressed strong dissatisfaction with the United States following the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, the NDAA contains provisions that are negatively related to China.

Mao Ning made these remarks during a daily press briefing in response to the signing of the NDAA into law by U.S. President Joe Biden. She criticized the U.S. for emphasizing the \"China threat,\" providing military support to Taiwan, and restricting economic, technological, and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

The spokesperson highlighted that the U.S. legislation undermines China's sovereignty, security, and development interests, disrupting efforts to stabilize bilateral relations. She urged the United States to abandon Cold War mentalities, refrain from politicizing scientific and economic issues, and adhere to the one-China principle and existing joint communiqués.

China has vowed to take resolute measures to safeguard its national interests in response to the NDAA. Mao emphasized the importance of objective and rational approaches to China-U.S. relations to foster mutual stability and cooperation.
